Life is passing, Eternity draws nigh: soon shall we live the very life of God. After having drunk deep at the fount of bitterness, our thirst will be quenched at the very source of all sweetness. Yes, the figure of this world passeth away (1 Cor. 7:31), soon shall we see new heavens; a more radiant sun will brighten with its splendors ethereal seas and infinite horizons... We shall no longer be prisoners in a land of exile, all will be at an end and with our Heavenly Spouse we shall sail o'er boundless waters; now our harps are hung upon the willows that border the rivers of Babylon (Cf. Ps. 136:2), but in the day of our deliverance what harmonies will then be heard! - Saint Thérèse's letter to her sister Celine (letter five)
Surrexit Christus vere, alleluia! Christ has truly risen, alleluia! Today we begin our celebration of fifty days. We are living, brothers and sisters, in the reality of Christ's Resurrection every moment of every day, but these fifty days allow us to focus more intently on the event of the resurrection, as well as the response of the early Church to this "good news" (Gospel). We cannot help but turn our eyes to heaven. Look to where we are headed! Look where Jesus has borne our human nature: drawn it into God Himself and into the eternal bliss we were created to be partakers in!

How will you choose to make this a truly "Holy" Week? If we don't try to focus on it, this week won't appear any different from the rest, except perhaps for the Easter candy we find in stores. Certainty Good Friday should be a day of fasting (eating less) and abstaining from meat, as is a universal law of the church for all between ages 18-59. Besides that, we need to do our part to make this week special, according to our particular circumstances and preferences. Here are some possibilities to choose from:
