The first reading from Isaiah says much about healing. “Then your light shall break forth like the dawn, and your wound shall quickly be healed.” The prophet is referring to the restoration of his people. What is the wound? It is being separated from God and experiencing the futility of separation. And how do we avoid separation? By humbling coming before the Lord. And, “share your bread with the hungry, shelter the oppressed and the homeless; clothe the naked when you see them…removing from your midst oppression, false accusation and malicious speech.” The inner conversion is shown in outward manifestations. In other words, being the “salt of the earth” and “light of the world”, as said in the Gospel. When our light shines forth, our bodies, minds, and emotions can receive the blessings God wants for us. Those blessings include healings, and our wounds no longer rule over us.
