Because if we don't know why we need to be rescued or that we are worthy of being rescued, Lent will make no sense to us.
Lent is so much more than forty days without life's little pleasures, more than long liturgies, more than purple vestments and ashes. Once we understand the real story of Jesus, our whole Lent will be transformed.
Come and see.
While each location will have a slightly different schedule, every Rescue Project has the same format: a meal together, an episode, and discussion.
Other elements we'll include: worship, prayer, small groups, and more!
The basic schedule is...
30 minutes of a meal together around a table
30 minute episode of The Rescue Project
30 minutes of discussion
The Rescue Project is for everyone: Catholic or not, practicing or lapsed, believing Christian or skeptic. All ages are welcome.
We believe that the Gospel isn't just words, it is power and it is explosive, whether you're hearing for the first time or the hundreth.
Children are welcome! Our Friday evening gathering will be particularly child-friendly. If you are hoping to bring a child with you to a host home location, we encourage you to communicate that with your host*.
The series itself is best suited for ages twelve and older, based on the content and topics covered.
*Who's my host? Once you have RSVP'd for your day of choice, you'll receive more details on the host home location and contact information for your host.
"This is how stories work. They invite listeners into a new world, and encourage them to make it their own, to see their ordinary world from now on through this lens, within this grid."
- N.T. Wright, Jesus and the Victory of God
