My name is Daniel. I’m a music-making, liturgy-loving Ohioan who feels blessed to serve as the Director of Sacred Music & Liturgy here at St. Thérèse Little Flower Catholic Church. I have a special devotion to St. Thérèse, who has been like a big sister and best friend in Heaven to me ever since my conversion to Catholicism during college.
Though I was raised in a Protestant tradition, I fell in love with Catholicism while attending Catholic high school. By God’s grace I was received into the Church during my time at Western Michigan University, from which I earned Bachelor’s degrees in choral music education and comparative religion. After college I went on to Yale University, where I received a Master’s degree in choral conducting from the Yale School of Music and a certificate in sacred music from the Yale Institute of Sacred Music.
In my spare time, I enjoy studying Catholic theology and apologetics, as well as church architecture and computer science. The best way to start a conversation with me? Ask me what my favorite piece of choral music is, or tell me which of the staff apologists at Catholic Answers is your favorite.
Some of my favorite saints include:
The Blessed Virgin Mary (especially Our Lady of Guadalupe)
St. Thérèse of Lisieux (of course!)
St. Francis de Sales
St. Gemma Galgani
St. Catherine of Siena
St. Ignatius of Loyola
St. Jean de Brébeuf and the North American Martyrs
