During his speech at the opening ceremony of World Youth Day 2023, Pope Francis reminded us that there is room for everyone in the Church. The Church belongs to everyone called by God through baptism. According to him, Jesus made this point very clearly in the parables in the gospel, that "all are called."
Toward the end of his brief speech, the Holy Father invited us to repeat after him: "Everyone, everyone, everyone." He wanted to ensure that we all got the message that the Church is not an elite club. Instead, being called by God is the only requirement for membership in the Church. And all the baptized have equal membership status in the Church.
It was so beautiful to attend WYD 2023 with so many pilgrims from our diocese, including Ally Brown, a parishioner who often reads and sings at our Sunday 8 pm Mass.
We saw St. Thérèse and decided to take a picture with her!
