In May, the Outreach Program provided $6,619.25 in assistance to 25 families or individuals for 28 accounts. This was a very slight increase from the previous month, but a higher amount per account. It was significantly less than the previous fifteen months for the same reasons the April output was less: stimulus payments, tax returns, and the Covid Emergency Assistance Program. But for those who needed help, the need was crucial.
One very panicked woman was in the hospital with stage 4 cancer and receiving chemo. She was in a motel when she first called, but has found an agency that is taking her in and needs help with her rent. We were able to work out assistance with the help of a hospital worker. It was the same with another woman, except she was in the hospital for MRSA and pneumonia. Still she was worried about a utility bill. And a third, a man with an injured back and spine from an accident and dealing with high blood pressure, also hospitalized, was panicked about his utility bill.
Thank you for your generosity which provided some relief to folks with daunting issues.
