In June, the Outreach Program provided $8,966.57 in assistance to 37 families or individuals for 40 accounts. We had the highest volume of calls ever, over 300. There's a reason. All government sponsored assistance programs have been terminated or suspended. For many elderly, disabled, or sick, employment is not possible. For many employable people, especially single moms with children, childcare is not available or affordable. Many live in fear of eviction.
One woman, with grandchildren in her home ages one to six, suffered a heart attack, then her kidneys shut down. She had just gotten out of the hospital and then suffered a slight stroke. She's getting homecare and receives some help from her son who works out of town. Another woman with one child was severely beaten by her husband. She was confined to her house, and he told neighbors that she killed herself. Before all this, her husband worked and she was going to school for social work. The husband was arrested; the woman is on her own with no financial support.
Thank you for your continued generosity. You are saving lives.
