On World Refugee Day, held every year on June 20, we commemorate the strength, courage and perseverance of millions of refugees.
Please pray for them and our world leaders.
You were born far from home, your parents forced to move from all they had known.
Your early childhood was spent in Egypt, where your family fled to when your life was in danger.
Today, as in all times and ages, people are forced from their homes by the powerful, and forced to leave all they’ve known by conflicts.
Give us compassion for refugees everywhere, Lord.
May we never forget that those who are displaced are never so by their own will,
and that those who need our aid deserve it as much as you did so long ago.
